Jewish Community Center In Houston Responds To NonCredible Bomb Threat

first_imgwikimediaThe Jewish Community Center in Southwest Houston is one of the latest Jewish centers threatened with violence.Early Monday, the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston received a threatening phone call. The center reported the threat as “non-credible” but staff enacted their emergency plan and police are checking the facilities.“We want to assure you that the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston and our staff are completely committed and trained to ensure the safety of our members and community,” the center wrote in a security update. “The security of our families, our community and the staff remains of the utmost importance to us.”In recent weeks, there’s been a wave of false bomb threats made to Jewish community centers across the United States, including centers in Alabama, Kansas and Minnesota.The JCC in Houston said that in response to these threats, it’s been working closely with its own security officers, local law enforcement and national security agencies to understand the situation and keep the facility and community members safe.
