first_imgGeorgiaThe family of a the young Co Donegal schoolgirl who died in a horrific car crash have called her their “happy-go-lucky superstar.”13 year old Georgia Doherty, from Clar, Redcastle died following a two car collision on the Glenshane Road in Co Derry yesterday.Her older sister Lisa, who was driving the car, is currently in a critical condition in hospital. Georgia, a first year pupil at Moville Community Hospital, was a hugely popular young girl and played football for her school and Redcastle FC.Her heartbroken family have issued a statement in which they paid tribute to Georgia and all she had achieved during her short life.“In her short life Georgia touched many people as she was a vivacious, bright, loving and caring girl whose loss will be greatly mourned by all those who came to know her.“She was our ‘happy go lucky superstar’ and this is how she will be remembered.” As well as playing soccer locally, Georgia was a huge Liverpool and Celtic fan.She had made her confirmation last year.The principle of Moville Community College, Mr Eamon Ryan, said Georgia, touched the lives of so many people in her short time at the school.He said the mood at the school today was a sombre one and that many of Georgia’s fellow pupils were visibly upset after hearing the news of her death.“She was very involved with the soccer team and she was a very bright and bubbly girl who got on with everyone. “There is a very sombre mood in the school today and pupils and teachers alike are feeling very numb about what has happened,” he said.Today her friends at Moville Community College paid tribute to the girl, remembering how she had been always smiling, always beautiful and always having fun with them and her family members.Social media was awash with tributes to the young girl who lived for sport and her friends.“Always with a laugh and a smile and a joke. Always with enough energy to take on 12 football teams and beat them all. The perfect wee girl,” said one friend today in a tribute.
