by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow â€” Two Wellington High School students have been charged for the burglary of the Danville Cooperative grain elevator at 801 South Jefferson in Wellington on Monday, March 23, 2015.Jonathan Ryberg, born in 1997, of Wellington and Avery Cheney, born in 1996, of Wellington have been charged with criminal damage to property, a Class B misdemeanor; theft, a Class A misdemeanor and criminal trespass, a Class B misdemeanor.According to the criminal complaint, two windows at the Coop valued at $200 were damaged. Ryberg and Cheney are also accused of taking goggles and three wrenches.At 8:20 a.m. on March 23, two Wellington Police Department officers took a report of the break in. One officer inspected the damage and observed the window on the front door had been broken along with a window in the restroom. The surveillance video and still photos showed the two adult males looking through the business which were distributed to the local media. Tips to the WPD indicated the suspects were identified as Avery and Ryberg.Â Allegedly, Chaney was interviewed on March 25 when his mother brought him to the police station. In the complaint, he said that he didnâ€™t know much about the night and ended up spending the night at another personâ€™s house. They allegedly wanted to climb the outside of the elevator, but could not find a ladder, so they broke out a window to get inside to look around.Ryberg then was interviewed separately thereafter, according to the complaint, and he confirmed the two boys were together at a party and went to the elevator intent on climbing the tower, before breaking into the facility.
