first_img South Bend’s DoubleTree Hotel closing temporarily due to travel ban Google+ Twitter By Tommie Lee – March 26, 2020 0 377 downtown South Bend (Spencer Marsh/95.3 MNC) One of the cornerstones of Downtown South Bend’s hospitality industry says they are closing their doors until the summer.The 291-room DoubleTree, the area’s largest hotel, is temporarily closing Friday afternoon, according to the South Bend Tribune. Officials say the move is due to the impact of the travel bans in place thanks to the coronavirus.A skeleton security crew will be on site, but otherwise about 120 employees at the hotel and the Baker’s Bar and Grille will be temporarily furloughed.A tentative reopening date of June 1st has been announced, but is considered open-ended.
