Former Chelsea man set to reject Bayern Munich switch

first_imgFormer Chelsea man Kevin De Bruyne will reject the advances of Bayern Munich after enduring a miserable time at Stamford Bridge, according to Wolfsburg teammate Marcel Schafer. The Belgian midfielder was signed by Jose Mourinho’s side from Genk in January 2012 for around £6m and spent the 2012-13 season on loan in Germany with Werder Bremen. His chance at Chelsea finally came last season but he was publicly criticised by Mourinho for his performance in a League Cup match against Swindon and subsequently dropped to train with the under-21 squad.Wolfsburg paid £18m for the playmaker in the summer and he has repaid them by helping them to second in the Bundesliga and the quarter-finals of the Europa League.Bayern have take note and are considering a summer move for the 23-year-old but Schafer says his team-mate is wary of moving to another massive club so soon.“I think that our chances Kevin are really good,” he said. “He has already experienced not getting so much time on the field at Chelsea, which is a top club in Europe.“And that is why I think the best thing for him would be to stay for a minimum one more year at Wolfsburg.“Next year he could play Champions League here and win titles with us. If you want to win titles you need extraordinary players and you really have to say that Kevin De Bruyne is at the moment the best player in the Bundesliga and not only because of his stats.“You can see that in every single game. And we’re really, really happy to have him and to keep him till the next season or maybe a little bit longer.” Former Chelsea man Kevin De Bruyne will reject the advances of Bayern Munich after enduring a miserable time at Stamford Bridge, according to Wolfsburg teammate Marcel Schafer 1last_img
