Police Launch Search for Accident Vehicle

first_imgPolice in Monrovia have launched a search for a white petroleum tanker truck that fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident last Friday near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, damaging four vehicles.  No one was seriously hurt, police officers told the Daily Observer.  They, however, confirmed that five vehicles were involved, but the main vehicle that was suspected to have caused the accident fled the scene, when confusion broke out as a result of the accident, and none of the other drivers noticed him pulling off. A police source said, “Three drivers, including a woman, who was driving a black jeep with license plate number JSK 01, were sent to the JFK Medical Center for check-up.”  The accident, which took place at 10:30, a.m. brought traffic at Tubman Boulevard to a standstill, creating a several mile long queue of vehicles in all directions.  Police said three of the vehicles were towed to the headquarters of the Liberia National Police, and the fourth vehicle, the black jeep which was stuck between the ministry’s fence into which it crashed, was later towed away to the LNP headquarters, according to officers on the scene.  An eye-witness who saw the accident told this paper, “I saw one of the vehicles summersault, landing on the road.”  Traffic police officers on the scene, led by Lt/Col. Gibson Kaung, began a search for the oil truck that many eye-witnesses said had fled the scene.  “We are still investigating and are looking for the tanker truck that witnesses said caused the accident,” Lt/Col. Kaung told the Daily Observer.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
