first_imgJackson’s Hole scored five times in the first inning and never looked back en route to a convincing 13-3 victory over Louie’s in the final of the 2011 Nelson Mixed Slopitch League Sunday afternoon at the Lakeside Diamonds.This is the 15th time in the past 19 years Jackson’s Hole, formerly Heritage Inn, has won the Nelson Mixed Slopitch crown.Prestige Thunder won the title in 2010.Jackson’s Hole, finishing fourth in regular season standings, put a stranglehold on the Louie’s offence.Keyed by some great defence from pitcher Mike Roch, Jackson’s Hole that halted any potential big innings.Luree Gould paved the way offensively for Jackson’s Hole going 4-for-4 from the plate. Lead-off hitter Al Faraguna also had a strong game offensively for Jackson’s Hole.Jackson’s Hole built a 13-0 lead before Louie’s scored a trey in the final inning.Louie’s got a second kick at Jackson’s Hole after the regular-season runner up posted wins over Prestige Thunder and Main Jet in the A-event double-knockout mini-tourney.Jackson’s dumped Louie’s Saturday night to advance to the A-semi final Sunday morning where the eventual winners knocked off regular season champ Main Jet.Jackson’s Hole opened the playoff tournament Thursday defeating Wild Cards.Jackson’s Hole then dumped Cardinals to advance to the A-event round robin Saturday.Competition held off a seventh-inning rally to defeat Van Hellemond Sporte 12-10.Van Hellemond looked to be out of is trailing big entering the final bat.However, Van Hellemond strung a few singles together and had the bases loaded with two outs.But Competition pitcher Erik Laughton got the heart of the Van Hellemond order to ground out to end the rally.In the C event, Cait’s Crew edged Can Filters.
